Synopsis: "Disney's fantastical adventure "Oz The Great and Powerful," imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum's beloved character, the Wizard of Oz. When Oscar Diggs, a smalltime circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he's hit the jackpot-fame and fortune are his for the taking-that is until he meets three witches, Theodora, Evanora and Glinda, who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone's been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late" (GSC).

Verdict: Oz the Great and Powerful is definitely one of the most predictable, cliched, lazily-written and visually-dependent films I have ever seen. It's probably also the most expensive children movie ever produced. The biggest problem with the plot is that it focuses too much on the Wizard of Oz while simply neglecting the development of the popular Wicked Witch of the West (named Theodora here). The useless performance by James Franco, and the lack of likable characters frustrated me even more. Viewers who have utmost respect for the original classic would be left dumbfounded with their palm on their faces, thinking, "What... have they done?" But fret not fellow fans of true masterpiece, this 200-million-dollar utter nuisance will likely be certified as garbage on Rotten Tomatoes and all other movie review aggregator websites, soon.

Second opinion: "Quite boring but the CG's pretty good at the beginning" (Iris Loong).

Plot holes and flaws: Even if I had my phone with me while watching the film (mobile devices were not allowed into the cinema hall, and I was invited as a blogger, ha!), I wouldn't be bothered to note down every single problem that it has 'cause before even reaching the mid point of movie, I would've already realised that there'd be just too many to list out later.

What have I learnt from the film? [SPOILER] That you should place your trust and the lives of others in the hands of a fuckin' conman. [SPOILER ENDS]

To watch in 3D? Yes, otherwise there's nothing much to fool you into thinking that this movie ain't that bad.
