Don't be fooled by the name, Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert Malaysia offers way more than just desserts[Sponsored post]
Success has expanded the Hong Kong-style restaurant chain to an amazing 18 outlets in Singapore, and presumably due to the lack of places left to go to on their own land, it opened its first outlet right here in Malaysia at 1 Utama Shopping Centre (Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, Selangor). Located strategically at LG Floor Oval (New Wing) of the mall, we can now all satisfy our Hong Kong cravings, especially for those who stay or work around there.
There are more than 60 items on the menu here with a tempting range of Hong Kong-style desserts, snack and also, more importantly to me personally, fulfilling noodles and rice that are done by authentic Cantonese chef with a dedicated kitchen team and quality ingredients. To keep the authentic Hong Kong flavour, this casual dining restaurant is presently not halal. I would have a hard time choosing what I'd want to eat here as there are just so many to choose from.
Last week, the local bloggers and social influencers were invited to taste some of the restaurant's signature dishes, drinks and desserts. Every single item served was so easily enjoyable. The following are some of the photos of the sample servings on that day. The actual portion may be much more than this.
HK Siew Mai (RM6.50) and HK Carrot Cake (RM6.50)
SK Signature Combination Noodle (RM17.90)
Braised Pork Belly with Mui Choy Rice (RM 14.90)
During the event, we were split into groups to play some very educational games that helped us understand how Sheng Kee's delicious Snowy Buns and SK Mango Pomelo Sago are made, and the difference between an ordinary bowl of noodles and a Sheng Kee one. Sheng Kee's combination noodles are cooked for just the right amount of time and heat to ensure its texture.
These Snowy Char Siew Buns are baked with precision for maximum fluffiness. They are nothing like the typical char siew baos you buy from a coffee shop. It's so tasty that I wonder if I'd ever go back to eating ordinary char siew baos.

Now let's talk about their main thing - desserts. The SK Mango Pomelo Sago is made from only the freshest and sweetest mangoes from Philippines. I'm not a fan of mangoes but I really liked this dessert.

For those who love Chinese desserts might also want to try the creamy and sweet "Yuan Yang" Sesame Paste (RM7.50). And to quench your thirst, I'd recommend the Green Lime with Plum Juice (RM6.50). I've no idea what's the other ingredient in the drink, probably nata de coco, but I couldn't help but to order another glass before the event ended.
The spacious outlet here has an eye-catching contemporary and relaxed atmosphere. As you can see in the photos here, the place is ideal for family bonding, intimate catch ups and group gatherings. Whether you want to have a full 3-course meal or just a quick and satisfying lunch stop on workdays, make Hong Kong Sheng Kee Dessert your new one-stop shop where you could eat everything Hong Kong-style.
From now until 31 May 2015, you can get a FREE SK Mango Pomelo Sago by following these simple instructions on this Instagram post. If you missed out on the offer, no worries, just follow SK's Facebook Page for updates and current promos.
