MBO Cinemas Blood Donation Drive returns in August 2016

mbo cinemas blood donation drive 3.0 media launch 2016

Donate blood for good cause and get freebies including a MBO Cinema ticket

The holiday season is over and it's time to help provide relief to shortage of blood. Returning for the third straight year, MBO Cinemas Blood Donation Drive 3.0 aims to reach a target of 5,000 pints of blood to further save 15,000 lives. The life-giving charitable annual community project will be held at 25 MBO Cinemas nationwide in Malaysia in partnership with St. John Ambulance of Malaysia once again with all donated blood to go to the National Blood Centre (PDN).

In 2015's campaign, 4,052 pints of life-saving blood were collected, which were almost a quadruple the 2014 collection of 1,065 pints, and these donations from two years alone have already saved more than 15,000 lives. As the campaign's tagline says — "1 pint of blood can save 3 lives", it's a rare opportunity for moviegoers like you and I to contribute while also getting rewarded with a bag of freebies including a complimentary MBO Cinema movie ticket.

Where & when to donate blood at MBO:
Kedah and Johor: 5 - 6 August 2016, 12pm to 6pm
The rest of Malaysia: 6 - 7 August 2016, 12pm to 6pm

There will be 6 to 15 beds at each outlet with staffs from PDN assisted by trained personnel from St. John Ambulance, so there shouldn't be a long waiting time. According to Dr Noryati bt Abu Amin, Director of National Blood Centre, it doesn't matter which outlet or city received more donations as the blood will be provided equally to the hospitals around the nation that need it.

"With this engaging charitable endeavour, MBO Cinemas hopes to further stamp our presence in the community, together with our core values of fun and entertaining, and yet a meaningful community work. This event will be a quintessential way of bringing people together under the banner of a common cause, promoting a sense of contribution and responsibility that in turn makes us all better human beings," said Lim Eng Hee, CEO of MBO Cinemas.

In return of St. John Ambulance continuous support, MBO Cinemas donated RM10,000 as a token of appreciation for their assistance in the blood donation campaign.
